CROSBYTON (Special) - Services for Thurman G. Kirkendall, 87, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Friday May 23, 1997, in Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, officiating.
Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Kirkendall died at noon Wednesday, May 21, 1997, in Crosbyton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 11, 1909, in Johnson County. He married Hazel Himmel on Aug. 4, 1928, in Cleburne. She died April 29, 1990. He was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church. He moved to Crosbyton from Godley in 1949. He was a farmer, and he was a bus driver for the Crosbyton School System.
Survivors include a son, Phil of Crosbyton; a half brother, Nelson Pierce of Oklahoma City; a sister, Doris Savage of Godley; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Crosbyton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
