A.R. King U.S.Flag Funeral services for A. R. King of 1503 Opossium in El Paso are to be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in First United Methodist Church here. The Rev. Carl Grissom, pastor of First Baptist Church in Andrews, and the Rev. Johnnie Williams, local Methodist pastor, will officiate.

Interment will be in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of King Funeral Home.

King, 71, and his wife, Jerry, came to Crosbyton on January 3, 1945. They operated King Funeral Home until selling out July 1, 1973, and retiring. The Kings moved to El Paso last August 24.

The former longtime Crosbytonite died at 4:30 a.m. Monday (Mountain Standard Time) in Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso. He entered the hospital October 15.

Born August 12, 1903 in Salina, Kansas, A.R. King and the former Jeralein Carroll were married February 18, 1944, in Amarillo.

The retired funeral director was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of Crosbyton Order of Eastern Star Chapter 891 and Crosbyton Lodge no. 1020 A.F. and A.M. Mr. King was a past patron of the local Eastern Star Chapter.

He had received a 25-year Masonic pin.

The Kings were avid supporters of Crosbyton and McAdoo high school athletic activities while residing here. They had been honored as "Outstanding Boosters" of the McAdoo Eagle basketball team.

In addition to Mrs. King, survivors include one nephew and four nieces.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Eldon Williams,Woodrow Robertson, J. W. Jackson, Dick Snodgrass, Dr. Dale R. Rhoades, Don Nickson, E. H. Schumacher and Bennie Smith.

Members of the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge are to be honorary pallbearers.
