James T. Karr Services for James T. "Jimmy" Karr, 79, of Lubbock will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Griffin and Rev. Bobby Rine officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Jimmy passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born October 13, 1925 in Crosbyton to Riley Edmond and Alice Caroline (Mabe) Karr. On January 28, 1951 he married Wanda Gayle Brixey in Crosbyton.

He was a graduate of Crosbyton High School and attended North Texas State University in Denton. He lived in Crosby County all of his life before moving to Lubbock in 2001. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Lubbock where he was a Deacon Emeritus and taught a men's Sunday School class. He was a former member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and taught the Downtown Bible Class. He was a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge #1020 and member of the Scottish Rite. He was very active in the Crosbyton Community where he formerly served on the Crosbyton School Board, the Athletic Booster Club, the Crosbyton Volunteer Fire Department, the Jaycees, and American Legion. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities. For 28 years he served as Executive Director of Caprock Community Action Agency in Crosbyton. He served in the US Coast Guard during WWII.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Edith Rowena Blagg, and 3 brothers, Olin Edmond Karr, Roy Weldon Karr and Teddy Mabe Karr. Survivors include his wife, Wanda of Lubbock; 3 sons and their wives, Ricky and Amy Karr of Olton, Robby and L'Rae Karr of Crosbyton and Roger and Kristin Karr of Lubbock, and his 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Keeney & her husband Josh, Kylen Karr, Chesley Kirk, Austin Kirk, Bradley Karr, Brett Karr and Shelbye Karr.

Wanda KarrWanda Karr, 78, of Lubbock, formerly of Crosbyton, passed from this life on Monday afternoon in the Covenant Women's and Children's Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Oakwood Baptist Church with Dr. Les Griffin of Plainview and Dr. Marcus Murphy, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. The family will have a visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Rix Funeral Directors.

Wanda Gayle Brixey was born on Jan. 21, 1933, in Crosbyton to Frank M. and Gertrude Summers Brixey. She graduated as valedictorian from Crosbyton High School and then married James T. "Jimmy" Karr on Jan. 28, 1951, in Crosbyton. Jimmy preceded her in death in 2001.

Wanda moved to Lubbock in 2003. She was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church and had been their organist for many years. She was the coordinator for the XYZ Adult Senior Group. She was a 50-year plus member of the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton and was also their organist. She was the teacher of the Dorcas Class for many years. She had worked in various banking institutions and recently has worked with the American State Bank in Lubbock.

Wanda is survived by her three sons and their wives, Ricky and Amy of Olton, Robby and L'Rae of Crosbyton, and Roger and Kristin of Lubbock; brother, Frank N. Brixey of Booneville, Ark.; sister, Evelyn Cosper of Artesia, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Josh Kenney, Kylen Karr, Chesley Kirk, Austin Kirk, Bradley Karr, Brett Karr and Shelbye Karr; and two great-grandchildren, Piper and Pierce Kenney.

Pallbearers will be Gary Hamersley, Sterling Mize, Frank Mullins, Marty Davis, Tony Davis and Andy Timmons.
