Military services for Arron Justus, 72, of Crosbyton were held Monday, December 22, 1997, in the Crosbyton Church of Christ. Joe Johnston, pastor of the Lorenzo Church of Christ, officiated.
Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Mr. Justus died Saturday, December 20, 1997, in St. Mary Hospital in Lubbock after a brief illness.
He was born in Mangum, OK, on March 7, 1925, and married Catherine Tyler on May 23, 1947. He served two years in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. He was assigned to the 158th Regimental Combat Team known as the Bushmasters. He was one of eight surviving members of his company and served briefly as Honor Guard for General Douglas MacArthur. He was a member of the American Legion and the Church of Christ. He was a farmer most of his life.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Thomas Gordon "Butch" of Midolothian, Arron Ray and Jimmy Jack, both of Crosbyton; two daughters, JoAnn Horne of Baytown and Rose Marie Reagan of Austin; three brothers, Odell of Amarillo, Eural of Lubbock and Ray of Crosbyton; a sister, LaVelle Eicke of Snyder; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were his five grandsons, and nephews David Cornelius and J. Paul Cornelius.
Honorary pallbearers were Ray Davidson of Big Spring, Frank Davidson, of Whiteface, Louis Stewart of Lubbock, Bob St. Clair and Weldon Williams both of Ralls. Kerry Wayne Horne of Alvarado, who was unable to attend, and Austin Steen and Glenn St. Clair both of Crosbyton.
