"Everybody´s Friend" F. V. (Shorty) Jordan was pronounced dead on arrival at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after suffering an apparant heart attack and collapsing about 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Jordan´s Restaurant, which he owned and operated.In addition to operating the restaurant, the personable Jordan had served since 1968 as justice of the peace for Precinct Two in Crosby County. He was re-elected in the November general election.
Jordan, 59, had been in failing health for several months, although he continued to work. The Jordan residence is at 204 North Farmer.
Memorial rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Crosbyton Church of Christ. Officiating were Bill Bryant of Lubbock and Loyd Hall, local minister.
Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery. King Funeral Home directed arrangements.
County courthouse was closed from 1:30 until 3 p.m. The courthouse flag was flown at half mast Monday.
The family moved to Crosbyton in 1958 from Lubbock.
Jordan operated drive-ins here until completing the modern Jordan´s Restaurant last fall.
In additon to his wife, Ruth, survivors include: five sons, Jerry of Crosbyton (stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army), Gary and Eddie, both of Ralls, Tracy of McAdoo and Charley of Crosbyton; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Peggy) Ellison of Crosbyton; one sister, Mrs. Francis McDonald of Arlington; and seven grandchildren.
