Obituary

Funeral services for Evelyn Brister Johnson, 84, of Brownwood were held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2003, at Netherton Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with Rev. Ruth Huber-Rohles officiating.

Mrs. Johnson was transported to Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton following services in Brownwood.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Crosbyton Cemetery with Rev. Bob Kelley officiating. Services were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Brownwood Care Center

She was born June 27, 1919, at Hillsboro, the daughter of the late W.C. and Loreen Evans Brister. She had been a resident of Brownwood since 1964, moving from Floydada. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Newcomers Club and Wally Byam Caravan Club. She married L. Warner Johnson Aug. 30, 1936, at McAdoo. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, W.C. Brister, Jr., Durwood Brister, Barry Brister, Edwin Brister; and a sister, Billye Gray.

Survivors include two sons, Lourie Johnson and wife, Veda, of Ft. Worth, Wesley Johnson an wife, Linda, of Houston; two daughters, Patsy Brock and husband, Carl, of Okalhoma City, OK, and Novis Brown and husband, Ellis, of Brownwood; one brother, Jerry Brister and wife, Sandy, of Milwaukee, WI; three sisters, Winnie Murphree of Wimberly, Babara Quist and husband, Jack, of Austin, and Bettye McLain of Ft. Worth; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
