Obituary

An apparent heart seizure claimed the life of John E.[sic] Irvin about 4 a.m. Friday in Crosbyton Hospital.

Mr. Irvin, 64, moved to Crosby County in 1942 and into Crosbyton in 1959.

Memorial rites were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernest Stewart Jr., pastor.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery, under the direction of King Funeral Home.   Serving as pallbearers were Tillman Reeves, Johnnie Wilson, Woodrow Robertson, Earl Edler, Doyle Redding and D. B. Ellison.

Born at Itasca, Mr. Irwin farmed southwest of Crosbyton for many years. He was well known in this community.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Mrs. Lanell Smith of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Mrs. Shirlene Love of Humble; a brother, Tom Irvin of Milford; and five grandchildren.

Shirley Pierce Irwin Services for Shirley Irvin, 92, of The Woodlands, and formerly of Crosbyton, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Rev. Les Griffin officiating. Burial will be at the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mrs. Irvin passed away Tuesday, May 31, in The Woodlands.

She was born Nov. 17, 1912 in Blum to Oscar Aquilla and Margaret Elizabeth Applegate Pierce. On June 17, 1933, she married John Charles Irvin in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1973. She was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church. She worked at Crosbyton Hospital as an LVN and with the Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Lanell Smith of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Shirlene Love of Kingwood; a stepsister, Gladys Hamilton of Bermuda Dunes, Calif.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Nephews, Donald Pierce, Dick Pierce, Jack Pierce and Wayne Frost and nephews-in-law, Olan Johnson and Thomas Davis, will serve as pallbearers.
