Obituary

Charles Hudman Services for Charles Travis Hudman, 69, of Crosbyton were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 2, 2000, at the Crosbyton Church of Christ with Jim York of the Sunray Church of Christ officiating and Joe Reyes, minister of the Crosbyton Church of Christ, assisting.

Burial was in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton and Hudman Funeral Home of Post.

He died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Lubbock´s Covenant Medical Center.

He was born May 7, 1930, in Post, He married Sue Nell Carpenter on Feb. 5, 1950, in Tahoka, TX.

Mr. Hudman was born and raised in Post and was a 1947 graduate of Post High School. Then he was associated with Hudman Furniture and Funeral Home in Post until entering the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served from 1952-54 during the Korean War. He then to moved to Crosbyton where in April of 1955, he and his wife, Sue, opened Hudman Hardware and Furniture and operated it until retirement in 1997.

He was a member of the Crosbyton Church of Christ and he served as a Crosbyton city councilman for 14 years and was a former chairman of the Municipal Airport Board and helped secure land for the Solar Research Project and Industrial Park. He was a leader in the Crosbyton Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the original owners of the White River Lake Marina.

He served in the Lions Club and served two years as president of the Crosbyton Jaycees. He helped build the Crosbyton swimming pool and was involved in many Crosbyton school activities. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge No. 1020 and was a member of the Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, of Crosbyton; two daughters, Tammy and John Carlisle of Rosemount, Minn., and Laurie and Mark Bandy of Lubbock; his mother, Julia Faye Hudman of Post; a sister, Doris Kress of Green Valley, AR. and three grandchildren, Cody Scott and Samantha Scott of Rosemount, NM, and Alexis Bandy of Lubbock.

Pall Bearers were Jimmy Karr, Lloyd Martin, Dee Cash, Mabry Greenhaw, Joe Lowrie and Joe Cargile.

Sue HudmanA Celebration of Life service for our beloved mother and friend Sue Carpenter Hudman, 74, of Crosbyton were at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Crosbyton Church of Christ with Terry Ellison officiating. Burial followed in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Sue passed away Sunday, October 8, 2006 at her home.

She was born February 24, 1932 in Garza County to the late Dan L. and Edna Evelyn (Boren) Carpenter. On February 5, 1950 she married Charles Travis Hudman in Tahoka. He preceded her in death on February 29, 2000.

She was co owner and operator of Hudman Hardware and Furniture for 42 years. Sue was a member of the Crosbyton Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 891. Sue is preceded in death by a grandson; John Scott in 1980, and two sisters; Mary Herbst and Anna Jean Elgin.

Survivors include; two daughters and their husbands; Tammy and John Carlisle and Laurie and Mark Bandy all of Lubbock, a brother Winfred "Bo" Carpenter of Lubbock, five grandchildren; Cody Scott, Samantha Scott, Lenny Carlisle, Lexi Bandy and Jake Bandy. Serving as Pallbearers are; John Carlisle, Mark Bandy, Cody Scott, Derek Carpenter, Charles Carpenter and Jeff Lowrie
