Orman Howard

Orman Wilson Howard, a Crosbyton community resident for almost half a century, was claimed by death about 9:30 p.m. Monday in St. Mary´s Hospital in Lubbock after a brief illness. Mr. Howard, a retired farmer, was 89.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ here. Glen Gray and Joseph Johnston officiated.

Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery beside his wife, who died March 21, 1978. Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton directed arrangements.

Born April 30, 1893, in Montague County, Mr. Howard was married to the former Bessie Lee Burgess on Nov. 17, 1923, in Childress. The family moved to Crosbyton on Jan. 2, 1936, from Childress.

Mr. Howard was a member of the Church of Christ and the Senior Citizens.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Oleta Faye Stephens and Mrs. Betty Sue Phillips, both of Dallas, and Mrs. Wanda L. Simpson of Lubbock; one sister, Effie Mills of Anton; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
