Johnnie HolbrooksJohnnie Wayne Holbrooks, 71, of Amarillo died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Prairie View Baptist Chapel with Glenn McCathern officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in Crosbyton Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mr. Holbrooks was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Parker County to Golda and Johnnie Holbrooks. He had been a lake patrolman and county constable in White River Municipal District for many years.

Mr. Holbrooks married Bobbie Hickman on April 27, 1962, in Lubbock. He was a member of Sons of Confederate Wars, a longtime member of Caprock Peace Officers Association, and an active member of NRA and Texas State Rifle Association. He belonged to Prairie View Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Holbrooks of Amarillo; a daughter, Karamae Simons and husband Mike of Amarillo; a son, Johnnie Lewis and wife Lorie of Alpine; three sisters, Freda Henderson and husband Ronald of Calahan, Colo., Jeanette Walling of Brashear and Betty Sue Ramey and husband Russ of Hartford City, Ind.; three grandchildren, Gina Arnaud and husband Ricky, Brandy Simons and Michael Simons; and three great-grandchildren, Ethen, Jordin and Ricky.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
