Obituary

Services for Esther Weisinger Hodges, 98, of Lubbock were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 19, 1998, in Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Wilson, pastor of Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, and Rev. Wilburn Coffman, a retired minister, and Rev. Les B. Griffin, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton officiating.

Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hodges died at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Lubbock Methodist Hospital following an illness.

She was born June 18, 1899, in Grapeland, TX and married J.A. Hodges on Aug. 16, 1916, in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1982. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock. She was a member of the Crosbyton 42 Club, Home Demonstration Club, Walla Byan Airstream Travel Club and the Rhythm Band at Carillon. She moved to Crosbyton on Nov. 6, 1932, and then from Crosbyton to Lubbock in 1983.

She is preceded in death by a son, Harold Hodges who passed away May 17, 1989, and by 4 great grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Clyde of Lubbock and Arnold of Crosbyton; two daughters, Adelene Farrar of Tulsa, Okla., and Dolores Barton of Lubbock; a sister, Eloise Beck of Lubbock; 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
