Services for Fred L. Hill, 78, of Lubbock, were held Saturday, July 25, 1998, in Trinity Chapel with Rev. Paul Jantzen officiating.

Graveside services were held Saturday, July 25, 1998 in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Franklin-Bartlett Funeral Home.

Hill died Thursday, July 23, 1998, in Heritage Oaks Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Ringling, Okla. He married Merle Collier on Sept. 13, 1947 in Lubbock. He moved to Lubbock from Crosbyton. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, and he was a member of Trinity Church.

He worked as a trailer merchanic for Hobbs Trailer and American Equipment and Trailer Co.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve of Lubbock, and Randy of Plano; two daughters, Diane Hill of Hobbs, NM, and Barbara Crawford of Helena, Mont.; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Merle HeardMerle Marie Hill Heard of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the age of 84. She was born October 22, 1928 in Crosbyton to Jesse and Mahalia (Newman) Collier. Merle attended school in Crosbyton before moving to Lubbock. She worked a number of years for JCPenney and then as a secretary for Trinity Church and West Texas Home Health before retiring. Merle married Fred Hill on September 13, 1947 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1998. She later married Dennis Heard on February 26, 2000 in Levelland. She was a charter member of Trinity Church and Prime Timers.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dennis; two sons, Steve Hill and wife Donna of Lubbock and Randy Hill and wife Dana of Plano; one daughter, Barbara Crawford and husband Jerry of Helena, Montana; one sister, Mae Belle Boone of Humble; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Merle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred in 1998; one daughter, Diana in 2008; two brothers; and five sisters.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Combest Family Funeral Homes. Services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Crosbyton Cemetery.
