Obituary

Funeral services for Lewis Eugene Hickman, 50, 2006 15th St., who died at 8:20 p.m. Friday night in Methodist Hospital will be at 2:30 p.m. today in the McAdoo Methodist Church.

Officiating will be the Rev. James Patterson of Amherst. He will be assisted by the Rev. Ray Forbes, McAdoo Methodist Church; the Rev. James Pope, McAdoo Baptist Church and Joe Lee, minister, McAdoo Church of Christ. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Burial will be in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of King Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Born in McAdoo, he had lived most of his life there. He was a Methodist Church member.

Survivors include his wife, Ione; two daughters, Lela Beth, of the home, and Mrs. Bobbie Joe Holbrooks, Lubbock; two sisters, Mrs. W. M. Clark, Plainview and Mrs. C. H. Patrick, Portales; and one granddaughter.

FRIONA — Graveside services for Ione Hickman Deaton, 83, of Friona will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Crosbyton Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Alvin Petty, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church.

Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home in Friona. She died Friday, May 23, 2003. She was born in Cundiff, Texas, to Robert and Emily Pickins on June 13, 1919. She married Lewis Eugene Hickman on Aug. 26, 1940, in Carlsbad, N.M. He died June 11, 1965. She moved to Friona in 1977 from Spur. She then married L.L. Deaton on June 9, 1977, in Friona. He died Jan. 22, 2001.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Friona. She was retired from the Federal Housing Administration in Lubbock as a secretary. She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Jo Holbrooks of White River, Texas, and Beth Shelton of Friona; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lewis Lee Hickman on April 28, 1952, and a grandson, Trent Shelton on Dec. 5, 1987.
