MRS. MAUDE HAWKINS

Mrs. Maude Hawkins was born March 26, 1868, died September 2, 1933, being 65 years, 7 months and 5 days old. She was born in Kentucky but came to the plains in 1920. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. Was married to William Franklin Hawkins on January 18, 1885. To this union were born nine children. Seven are living, two sons and five daughters, all were present. Her husband preceeded her in death only two months and 15 days. Mrs. Hawkins had been bedfast for a year.

At the time of her death was with a daughter, Mrs. L. D. Phillips of the Acuff community.

Her children are William Hawkins, Leo Hawkins, Mrs. John Ogle, Mars. L. D. Phillips, Mrs. Jeff Meek, of of Lorenzo; Mrs. Charles Ogle of Crosbyton, Mrs. Mike Brackett of Ralls. A host of grandchildren also mourn her going. The funeral was conducted in the cemetery at Crosbyton with Rev. E. H. Cavin in charge. His thoughts were being taken from 1 Cor. 15: 48-51. A special son, "In the Land where We Never Grow Old,' was rendered by a quartet. The remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Crosbyton Cemetery.
