Car Fatally Injuries Girl
CROSBYTON (Special) - An 8 year old girl was fatally injured about 7:15 p.m. Saturday when she was struck by a car as she rode her bicycle out of her driveway on FM 28 about 16 miles northeast of here.The child, LaDonna Havens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Havens, of Rt. 1, McAdoo, was dead on arrival at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.
A Department of Public Safety spokesman identified the driver of the auto as William Truman Barnett of Crosbyton.
According to highway patrolmen Freddie Owen and Joe Bob Williams, Barnett was southbound on FM 28 when the child rode into the roadway from a private drive.
The child´s death raised the South Plains traffic death toll to 49, as compared to 63 at this time last year.
The child´s body was taken to King Funeral Home here where services are pending.
Her survivors include her parents; a sister, Shelley, and a brother, Timmy, both of the home; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Raphael of Crosbyton; her paternal grandfather, Elmer Havens of Crosbyton; and her maternal Great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Raphael of Crosbyton.
