Tina Ellison Harvey  had literally gown up with this community. Her father became interested in new land being developed here by the C.B. Livestock Co. He purchased land and built the first house in Crosbyton. The Ellison children enrolled in school in December 1908 in a small building near the present I.W. Collier residence. They attended church in the community meeting hall above the Supply Store. Mrs. Harvey remembered that she and other youngsters ran and played in the new courthouse construction.

Graduated from Crosbyton High School with the class of 1919, she was employed as a clerk in several early day dry good stores.

She and John G. Harvey were married Jan. 18, 1933, in the Baptist parsonage in Hereford by the Rev. C.B. Cloyd. The couple resided in Hereford for three years before returning in 1936 to Crosbyton, where Mr. Harvey was employed as supervisor of the WPA program. He later worked with the Highway Department and served as county commissioner of Precinct II from 1946-46. The Harveys managed the Club Cafe for a year. Later, they boarded several teachers in their home and served lunch for numerous local residents. This led to the founding of the school store, which they opened in 1947.

When Mrs. Zina Lamar constructed the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial and deeded it to City of Crosbyton, she requested that Tina and John Harvey be named currator-manager of the facility. The Harveys held this position until their retirement in 1972. Mrs. Harvey had served as Crosbyton High School Librarian from 1951-1958 and was instrumental in organizing Crosbyton Friends of the Library and in getting the Crosby County Library established through the Bookmobile program. The program also resulted in libraries being founded in Kent and Garza counties.

Mrs. Harvey served for several years as chairman of the Crosby County Historical Survey Committee. Under her leadership, Crosby County was considered "one of the outstanding counties in Texas."

The committee won numerous awards, including distinguished service in 1965, 1966 and 1967, best county chairman award in "recordation appreciation", marketing preservation and surveying Texas history 1966 and best scrapbook award. Under her leadership, the committee also received an array of awards for historical markers located in Crosby County.

Mrs. Harvey has been listed in "Who´s Who in American Women."

The Harveys were active members of First Baptist church and held membership in the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, John G.Harvey; two sisters, Moda Reed of Crosbyton and Viola Gray of Hereford; and several nieces and nephews.
