Mary Frances Harris
Services for Mary Francis Harris, 69, of Crosbyton were held, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Gentry officiating, and the Rev. Leonard Chatham and Rev. H.L. Phillips assisting.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

She died Sat., Nov. 17, 2001 at Crosbyton Hospital.

She was born Nov. 3, 1932 in Crosbyton.

She was a member of Galillee Baptist Church, where she presently served as Treasurer and Missionary Teacher. She also served as Secretary, Director of BTU, Sunday School, GA Girls, User Board and Mission President in past years. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Lubbock and Beautician School in Ft. Worth. She also attended Amarillo College and nursing courses in El Paso. Returning to Crosbyton, she owned her own beauty shop and had her own restaurant as well. Later, she worked at Crosbyton Hospital for 12 years as a nurses aide and "visiting nurse" service from Lubbock. She worked as a cashier at the Winn"s store in Crosbyton until her retirement. She was the project director for the Book: "A History of Black Families." She lived in the Crosbyton area all her life.

Survivors include 3 sons, Ronald "Duck" Johnson of Mesquite, Marvin Wiley, of the Colony, TX, Terry Harris of Crosbyton, 3 daughters, Carolyn Carr, of Lancaster, Patricia Brewton of Dallas, Shelia Miller of Lubbock. 1 brother and his wife, L.C. and Cora Williams of Lubbock, 1 sister and her husband: Dorothy Raye and L.D. Terrell of Crosbyton, 1 sister-in-law Emma Jean Williams of Crosbyton. 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
