What I remember so well about my Grandparents was the old wind up Victorola record player they had and the Jimmy Rodgers records they let us listen to such as All Around The Water Tank, Railroad Bum..and such. My Grandfather also had the best Croquet field in the area. He allowed us to play croquet on it but was very particular about the way we used it. There also were two or three milk goats in a pen at back of his yard and an ornerary Billy goat tied to chain and stake where there was a patch of grass. We [grandchildren] used to tease the billy and he would rush to the end of his chain to butt us. Grandpa didn't like that because it made it hard for him to handle the goat. It was very common to see grandpa and his team of huge work horses going from one part of Crosbyton to another to plow or plant a lot or two of cotton or mellons or something that would grow there. He rented or leased small parcels for farming and used his horses to work the crops.
