Services for Linnie Hardesty, 85, of Dallas, and formerly of Crosbyton, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 1989, in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Dr. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.Mrs. Hardesty died at 7:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 1989, in Doctors Nursing Center in Dallas after a lengthy illness.
She was born Mar. 5, 1903, in Childress, Texas, and married Aubrey Newton Hardesty Oct. 1, 1924, in Ralls. He preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1968.
She was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Lubbock Sanatorium Hospital. She was a member of a Nursing Society and the WWI Auxiliary and was a school nurse at one time. She was an officer of the Crosbyton Senior Citizens and Old Settlers. She was a member of the Crosbyton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was Crosbyton Citizen Through the Years in 1972. She was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church.
A sister, Sue Dorn of Goliad, TX, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Wade Hardesty of San Marcos and Max Hardesty of Dallas; one foster son, Lee Roy Oaks of Tyler; one brother, Dr. Bill Romane of Bryan, TX; six grandchildren and two great grandsons.
