CROSBYTON (Special) — Funeral services are pending with King Funeral Home here for Marine Lance Cpl. Arturo B. Gutierrez, 20, killed in action in Vietnam Sunday.
His mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davila of Crosbyton were notified of his death Wednesday.
Born in Arkansas, Gutierrez had lived in Crosbyton eight years, graduating from high school here in 1967. The first Crosbyton man to die in combat in Vietnam, Gutierrez was also the first Latin American to graduate from Crosbyton High School.
Other survivors include two sisters, Gloria and Odila, both of the home; two brothers, Freddie of the home and Audon, stationed with the Air Force in Mississippi; and his grandmother, Mrs. Ausencion Bustamante of Crosbyton.
