Graveside services for Joe Wayne Grizzle, Jr. 77, of Hillsboro, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 8, 2009 in the Crosbyton Cemetery with Rev. Les Griffin officiating. Burial is under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Mr. Grizzle passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 in Hillsboro. He was born March 26, 1931 in Spur, Texas to the late Joel Wayne Grizzle and Gladys Roberta (Walker) Grizzle. He married Peggy Jean Wooten August 27, 1950 in Crosbyton. Joe farmed in Kalgary, Texas before moving his family to Las Vegas, Nevada to join the Metropolitan Police Department in 1965. While in Las Vegas, Joe belonged to the Masonic Lodge #1020 in Crosbyton and the First Baptist Church in Las Vegas. He retired from the Police Force as a Detective in 1987 and moved to Hillsboro, Texas in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Hillsboro, his children, David Grizzle and wife Kathy, Regina Grizzle, Jody Grizzle and wife Darcy; five grandchildren, Leszli Swearengin and husband Brian, Laura Zemp and husband Chris, Lindsay Grizzle, Jayme Flynn, Jacob Grizzle; three great grandchildren, Caroline Zemp, Catherine Zemp, Savanna Flynn; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton from 5-7 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2009.
