Robert Preston "Bob" Gowens, son of Clarence and Lora Gowens, born in Crosbyton, Texas on January 19, 1946, went to be with our beloved Lord on Wednesday, November 17, 2010.
He was a graduate of Crosbyton High School and went on to graduate from Oklahoma Ferrier College. He was a very well respected ferrier; cowboying and ranching was his way of life. He shod horses for the Wagner Ranch in North Texas and also for the Matador Land & Cattle Company. He was a member of The Cowboy Church in Iowa Park, Texas.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lora and Clarence Gowens, son, Damon Preston Gowens, brother, Dalmer Gowens, and sister, Ella Rodgers. He is survived by his brother Donnell Gowens and wife Wilma of Floydada, sister Margie Scroggins and husband Luther of Oklahoma, son Jason Robert Hutchings and grandson Carson Hutchings of Lubbock, daughter, Jodie Nichole Gowens and granddaughter Beleth Gowens, grandsons Druce Gowens, Aydin Gowens, and Ripley Gowens of Lubbock, and daughter Kathryn Evi McClure and husband Kyle McClure and grandson Preston McClure of Abilene.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Crosbyton Cemetery with Rev. Lester B. Griffin officiating.
