Memorial services for Rick Douglas Gowens, a lifelong Crosbyton resident, were at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dave Treat, pastor, and the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated.

Mr. Gowens was 27.

He was buried in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Gowens´ body was discovered about 7:05 p.m. Monday at his residence, 615 South Farmer. Authorities have placed the time of death at "about 2 o´clock" Monday.

Rick D. Gowens was born Dec. 17, 1954, in Amherst. He was graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1973 and married the former Sally Darlene McClure on March 4, 1974, in Clovis, N.M.

A salesman, Mr. Gowens was a member of First United Methodist Church. He served on the church´s administrative board.

Survivors include his wife, Sally; one son, Jody, and one daughter, Ricci, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donnell Gowens of Floydada; two brothers, Arvin Gowens of Sacramento, Calif., and Kelton Gowens of Lubbock; and grandmothers, Mrs. Laura Gowens and Mrs. Katy Estella Alldredge, both of Crosbyton.

Pallbearers were Joe Smith, Sam Latta, Bob Adams, Greg Fisher, Tom Ancell and Joe Mark Cargile.
