CROSBYTON (Special) - Clarence P. Gowans, 61, a resident of Crosbyton since 1924, died about 7:50 p.m. Friday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack Friday afternoon while at work.Services are pending at King Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Gowens, a native of Coleman, had been employed by a Crosbyton service station for a number of years. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lora; three sons, Dalmer, Donnell and Robert, all of Crosbyton; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Rogers of Spur and Mrs. Luther Scroggins of Lubbock; two brothers S. B. of Lubbock and J. W. of Graham; six sisters, Mrs. Charlie Reedy of Graham, Mrs. Finitta Roberts of Abilene, Mrs. Charity Ray of Coleman, Mrs. Clyde Perry and Mrs. Lucille Galloway, both of Stockton, Calif., and Mrs. Lena Henderson of Florence, Colo., and eight grandchildren.

Services for Lora Evie Gowens, 84, of Haskell and formerly of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 1992, in Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Rine, a retired Baptist minister from Idalou, and Arvin Gowens, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Fountain Valley, CA, officiating.Burial in Crosbyton Cemetery was directed by Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gowens died at noon Wednesday, June 10, 1992, in Rice Springs Care Center in Haskell after a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 16, 1907, in Goldthwaite. She married Clarence Preston Gowens Dec. 25, 1927, in Crosby County. He died on Feb. 25, 1966. She was a homemaker and a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church. She was employed for several years as a nurse´s aide at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. She attended school at Robertson. She moved to Crosby County in 1914 and to Haskell in 1986. She was preceded in death by two sons, Orvel and Dalmer Gowens, who died in 1929 and 1982, respectively; by a brother, Alonzo Atchison, and a sister, Dorothy Justus; and by two grandsons, Rick Gowens and Damon Gowens.
Survivors include two sons, Donnell Gowens of Floydada and Robert Gowens of Burkburnett; two daughters, Margie Scroggins of Lubbock and Ella Rogers of Haskell; a sister, Odessa Sonders of Everman; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kelton Gowens, Gary Gowens, Mike Gowens, Derral Rogers, Larry Scroggins, Gary Dale Hamersley and Darrin Wright.
