Graveside services for Lennie Merle Freeman, 83, formerly of Lubbock will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2007, at Crosbyton Cemetery in Crosbyton, with Joe L. Freeman, a nephew, officiating. Burial arrangements are under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home in Hale Center.She died March 27, 2007, at Prairie House Living Center in Plainview.
She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Crosbyton, to Clarence and Nora Freeman. Descending from a father who served in the Navy during World War I, it was natural for her to join and enjoy ten years in the service for her country. Her two brothers, Charles Freeman who served in World War II and Bill Freeman who served during the Korean Conflict, were also members of this patriotic Crosbyton family. After being inducted into the Army Air Corps in 1944, she had assignments in Georgia, Tennessee, Montana, Alaska, Alabama and New Jersey, and then served in Germany for over five years. She spent the next 24 years as a civil service employee at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas.
She is survived by one brother, Bill Freeman of Hale Center and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Freeman; and two sisters, Mary Nell Ivey and Anita Lindley.
The family will have visitation at Freeman-Abell Funeral Home today, March 29th from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
