Eph Allen Fowler, 80, a lifelong resident of Crosbyton passed to be with his Lord on Sunday January 18, 2015 at 5:34 A.M. in the Crosbyton Hospital following a long illness.
The Eph in his name came from his Grandfather Ephraim Fowler. Allen was born August 23, 1934 in the Big Four Community to Loyd Alonzo and Ethice Leslie Reynolds Fowler, Big Four Pioneers. He and his wife, Lenette, were baptized into their Lord and Savior on the same occasion at the Crosbyton Church of Christ by Lloyd Hall, current minister, in the Summer of 1974. Allen loved deeply, first his God, then his family and Oh, those grandkids, what a joy to him. Born with a short arm and crooked back and spine, Allen never let it slow him down. He could effectively hit a ball, fish with the best of em, and cook whatever was needed. He could be cantankerous, was hilarious, plain spoken, very sentimental and loved deeply. His tongue could be sharp but his loyalties ran true and deep. Allen was a friend to all, a father figure to his younger brother, Harley and a grandfather figure to his young nephew Stephen Paul, whom he nicknamed nuisance. Stephen still carries that name with great pride. A Jack of many trades, Allen was a Lubbock ISD bus driver and Aide, singer, published songwriter and business owner, He donated his Little Bull Drive In building to White River Youth Camp, A Training Center for Christ at White River Lake, TX. Known for his clever wit and selection of songs, he had a large and dedicated following as a disc jockey, broadcasting from KFLD Radio in Floydada. A text from nephew, Matt Williamson was typical of those received, I love my Uncle Eph What a character---What a man. Praying comfort and peace for Aunt Lenette and family. Signed, Hello, uglier than me. his favorite greeting for me.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Lenette (Wilson) Fowler of Crosbyton, sons Keith (Melonie) Fowler of Lubbock, Cody (Lorie) Fowler of Chatteroy, Washington, Randall Fowler of Lubbock; daughter, Rhonda Dee (Todd) Rauch of Lubbock; granddaughters, Amy Belknap of Spokane, WA, Serena and Shaylee Fowler of Manor, TX and September (Sunshine) Eve Rauch of Lubbock; and grandsons David and Christopher Chambers of Lubbock, Jonathan Wayne Fowler of Sacramento, CA., Chevy Michael Fowler of Manor, TX, and William Aidan (T.C.)
