Memorial rites for Arnal C. Fowler, a well-known Crosbyton farmer, are scheduled for 11 a.m. today (Thursday) in the First United Methodist Church.

Officiating will be the Rev. Johnnie Williams, former pastor, the Rev. David Treat, pastor, and Loyd Hall, minister of Church of Christ.

Interment is to be made in Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mr. Fowler, 72, was found dead shortly before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on the farm of his mother-in-law, Granny Long, which is immediately east of town.

He had been a Crosbyton resident since 1914. Born Oct. 10, 1908 in Arcadia, Neb., to Alonzo Amos and Mary Parker Fowler, Arnal Fowler moved here with his parents when he was six.

Mr. Fowler and the former Geraldine Long were married in Tatum, N.M.

A member of the First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton, he served for many years on the Crosbyton Cemetery Association board. Mr. Fowler was a partner in the West Texas Gin and was secretary of the local Domino Club.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; one son, Wendell Fowler of Lubbock; one daughter, Neva Wilson of Denton; and six grandchildren.

Geraldine (Gerry) Fowler, who came to Crosbyton from Whitewright as a girl of eight, was claimed by death at 11:15 p.m. Sunday following an extended illness. She died in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.

Mrs. Fowler was 63.

Her home was just east of town, but recently she had been a Crosbyton Care Center resident.

Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dave Treat, pastor, and Carrol Robertson officiated.

Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Serving as pallbearers were J.W. Wood, Arles Graham, Joe Dwyer, John W. Stewart, T.W. Stockton and J.M. Fowler.

Born Aug. 29, 1918 in Whitewright, Tex., the former Geraldine Long moved to this community in 1927 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Long and other family members.

She and Arnal Fowler were married in Tatum, N.M. Mr. Fowler preceded his wife in death on Oct. 28, 1980.

Mrs. Fowler was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Her survivors include: her mother, Mrs. L.C. Long of Crosbyton; one step-son, Wendell Fowler of Lubbock; one step-daughter, Neva Wilson of Carrollton; two brothers, W.G. Long Sr. of Crosbyton and Harold C. Long of Midland; three sisters, Mrs. L.C. Cahaill of Austin, Mrs. Mabel Parker of Pampa and Miss Owna Bell Long of Amarillo; and several Step-grandchildren.
