Services for Roy Houston Farris, Sr., 92, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 1990 in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Dr. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mr. Farris died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, March 23, 1990 in the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born October 23, 1897 in Collins County, Texas and married Cornelia A. McClure in 1917 in Hollis, OK. He was a farmer/cattleman and a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist Church and a Charter member of the Downtown Bible Class. He was a member of the Crosbyton Lions Club where he was the oldest club member. In 1944 he attended the National Lions Club Convention in Mexico. He moved to Crosby County in 1924 from Hollis, OK.

A daughter, Nell Romane preceded him in death in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Farris of Crosbyton; 1 son, R.H. Farris, Jr. of Lubbock; 3 sisters, Macie Pierce and Hattie Massey, both of Hollis, OK., Grace Shelley of Amarillo; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Joe Cargile, Harry Jung, Tillman Reeves, Arvil Lee Campbell, John Will Stewart, W.W. Brints.

Honorary Pallbearers: Crosbyton Lions Club, Downtown Bible Class and E.H. Flournoy.

Family suggests memorials to Texas Lions Camp, Box 247, Kerrville, Texas 78029=0247.
