Services for Joe Dwyer, 57, of Crosbyton were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 1996, at the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Woodward, pastor, and the Rev. Beth Harrington of Farwell´s Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial followed in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Dwyer died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 1996, at Zale Lipshy University Hospital in Dallas following an illness.

He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in McLean. He married Janice Page on June 26, 1961, in Sayre, OK.

He was a seed producer and the co-owner of the Crosbyton Seed Company and Oil Seed Systems, Inc., in Crosbyton. He was a member of the Texas Seed Association and the American Seed Trade Association, Crosbyton First United Methodist Church, and the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He graduated from Texas Tech, and he moved to Crosbyton from Lubbock in 1964.

He served a as mayor of Crosbyton in 1985-86, and he was a city councilman from 1983 to 1985.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jana Boyce and Jennifer Shaver, both of Lubbock; two brothers, Carl of McLean and Edward of Hutchinson, KS; and three grandchildren, Erin Boyce, Katie Boyce and Zachary Shaver, all of Lubbock.
