Mitchel "Brother" Coppage, Jr. was born to Mitchell Coppage, Sr., and Annie Marie Ferrel Coppage on September 13, 1917 in Robinson County, TX. Brother was a "special" child in a family of twelve adoring sisters and brothers and a host of affectionate relatives. He was not a school graduate, a career person or a parent. He lived at home with his family his entire life.
"Brother" attended church with his family and came to love and appreciate biblical teachings and gospel music. He was the bright and shining star of his family.
Mitchel "Brother" Coppage, Jr. departed this life on Saturday May 1, 1999. He left to cherish his memory his mother, Annie Marie Coppage Wiley; eight sisters, Katherine Robison of Crosbyton, TX: Mable Willis of Slaton, TX; Texanna Townsel of Muleshoe, TX; Odessa Lewis, Willie Lee Lewis, Verdie Cornelius, all of Lubock, TX; Aire Lee Kennedy, Nellen Bradley, both of Clovis, NM; four brothers, Robert E. of Lubbock, TX; Edward E., Wilbert Wiley and Billy J. Wiley, all of Crosbyton, TX; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were celebrated Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at 2:30 o´clock p.m. at First Baptist Church in Crosbyton with Rev. B.J. Wiley, Eulogist and Rev. G.A. Blocker, pastor officiating. Assisting with the service were Sis. J. Williams, Rev. L.D. Brooks, Debra Harris, Essie M. Coppage and Rev. Billy J. Wiley.
Active pallbearers were Edward E. Coppage, Jr., Emery Coppage, Raymond Lewis, Jr., Tommy L. Cornelius, Charles R. Shields, Lewis Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Earl Coppage, Jr., Mitchell Dixon, Tony R. Conley, Billy J. Wiley, Jr. and Curtis W. Kennedy. Final resting place and committal service were at Crosbyton Cemetery.

Services for Mitchell Coppage, Jr., 81, of Crosbyton were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Crosbyton First Baptist church with the Rev. Billy Joe Wiley officiating and the Rev. C.A. Blocker assisting.
Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
He died May 1, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born Sept. 13, 1917, in Bremen, TX. He attended Galilee Baptist Church with his family. He had lived in Crosbyton most of his life.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Marie Wiley of Crosbyton; four brothers, Robert Coppage of Lubbock, Edward Coppage, Wilbert Wiley, Jr., and Rev. Billy Joe Wiley, all of Crosbyton; eight sisters, Katherine Robison of Crosbyton; Mable Willis of Slaton, Texanna Townsel of Muleshoe, Odessa Luis, Willie L. Lewis and Verdie Cornelius, all of Lubbock, Aria Lee Kennedy and Nellen Bradley of Clovis, NM.
Pallbearers were Edward E. Coppage, Jr., Emery Coppage, Raymond Lewis, Jr., Tommy L. Cornelius, Charles R. Shields, and Lewis Johnson.
