Obituary

Funeral services for Norene Collier, 75, a local resident since 1919, were conducted in the Primitive Baptist Church Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. Elder L.M. Handley of Cross Plains and Elder Afton Richards of Ralls officiated. Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Collier died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in Crosbyton Hospital following a short illness.

She was born June 3, 1903 in Bell County, Texas and married William D. Collier, July 24, 1923, in Crosbyton. He preceded her in death June 25, 1978.

She was a member of the Crosbyton Primitive Baptist Church where she was very active. She graduated from Crosbyton High school, and had moved to Crosbyton from Floyd County.

She is survived by two sons: Billy Dee of Abilene and David A. of Lubbock, one brother, John A. Dunn of Atlanta, Georgia, four sisters, Mrs. Tillman Reeves of Crosbyton, Mrs. Ernest Roberson, Mrs. Griffin Odom and Mrs. E.L. Roberts all of Lubbock, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers were W. W. Robertson, L.M. Powell, Joe Yarborough, George Johnson, Dalmer Gowens and Woodrow Brints.

Willie Dee Collier, a resident of this community for 55 years, died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday upon arrival at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital of an apparent stroke. He was taken to the hospital by Crosbyton Ambulance Service.

Mr. Collier was 82.

Before his retirement 12 years ago, he barbered in Crosbyton for 55 years.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Primitive Baptist Church with Elder L. M. Handley and Elder A.E. Richards officiating.

Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery with Adams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were W. W. Robertson, L.M. Powell, Joe Yarborough, George Johnson, Dalmer Gowens, and W. W. Brints.

Born June 23, 1896 in Lipan, Tex., Mr. Collier was married to the former Norene Dunn on July 24, 1923, in Crosbyton. He moved to Crosbyton in 1908 from Lipan.

Collier was a World War I veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Crosbyton Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Norene; two sons, Billy Dee Collier of Abilene and David A. Collier of Lubbock; one brother, Virgil Collier of Highlands, one sister, Mrs. Elmer (Ola) Strawn of Granbury; five grandchildren, Mrs. Lesa Farr, Jerry Collier, and Jimmy Collier, all of Abilene, Michael Collier and Sharon Collier both of Lubbock; and one great-grandson, Christopher Farr of Abilene.
