Funeral for J.L. Collier Slated Today

Funeral services for James Luther "Heavy" Collier, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, at the First Baptist Church. Collier died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Crosbyton hospital following a brief illness.

The Rev. Otis Testerman will officiate at the service. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted. Burial in Crosbyton cemetery will be under direction of King Funeral Home.

Collier, a resident of Crosby County for the past 56 years, was a native of Hood County. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been a member of the Downtown Bible Class.

Survivors include three brothers, I.W., Virgil and W.D. Collier, both of Houston; and three sisters, Mrs. Ewing Lawson of Crosbyton, Mrs. Elmer Strawn of Hurst and Mrs. Ruby Gunn of North Hollywood, Calif.
