Jack CoffmanU.S.Flag   Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers will host a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Jack Coffman from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Celebration services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at Southcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.

Jack was born Sept. 28, 1932 in Lubbock to the late Willard and Leona (Messer) Coffman. He graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He served in the US Navy and the National Guard Reserves. Jack married Myrna Richardson Dickey on Aug. 21, 1980 in Lubbock. He worked for the US Treasury Department as an accountant, retiring in 1988. After his retirement, he and Myrna worked as Catastrophic Insurance Adjusters for six years and they continued to travel and work part time for many additional years. He was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church and served as a past president of the WBCCI Texas Plains Unit Airstream Club. Along with traveling and listening to Blue Grass music, Jack enjoyed his time of fellowship and playing games with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Myrna; children, Weldon Coffman and wife Rhonda of Shallowater, Jackie Myers and husband Gary of Amarillo, Scott Coffman and wife Lisa of Lubbock and Shannon Dickey of Austin; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jack is preceded in death by three brothers, Wilburn, Eldon and Wayne Coffman.

The family suggests memorials to Vista Care Hospice, the Humane Society, ASPCA or Southcrest Baptist Church.
