Romey Coffey, 81, a longtime area farmer and rancher, died Tuesday in Crosbyton Hospital following an extended illness.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church here. Officiating will be the Rev. Payton Fullingim of Lubbock and the Rev. Ernest Stewart, pastor. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery directed by King Funeral Home.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., he moved here in 1910. He had farm and ranch interests until his retirement several years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son, R.J. of Long Beach, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Jones of Redondo Beach, Calif., two brothers, Hembree of Levelland and Edgar of Lubbock; five sisters, Mrs. Mammie Paschal of Clovis, Mrs. Wallace Heathington of Ralls, Mrs. Mary Lee Chance of Crosbyton, Mrs. Asalee Reed and Mrs. O.B. Williams, both of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.

Services for Irene Coffey, 90, of Redondo Beach, California and formerly of Crosbyton, were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 1986 in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Dr. Lester Griffin, pastor, officiating.
Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Mrs. Coffey died 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 1986 in her Redondo Beach, Ca. residence following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 27, 1896 in Emma, Texas and married Romey Coffey May 26, 1915 in Crosby County. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1971.
She was a former Dressmaking Shop owner and sold Avon until she was 76 years of age. She was a member of the Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. She moved to Redondo Beach, Ca. in 1972 from Crosbyton.
Survivors: 1 Daughter: Marguerite Jones--Redondo Beach, Ca.; (1 Son, Romey John Coffey, preceded in death in 1972); 1 Sister: Dessie Walters--Irving, Tx.; 2 Grandchildren: Denise Jones--Eureka, Ca.; organ Thomas Jones,III--Newport Beach, Ca.; 1 Great-grandchild: Justine Jones--Newport Beach, Ca.
Active Pall Bearers: Ted Karr, Jimmy Karr, R.H. Farris Jr., Woody Robertson, Austin Steen, Joe Cargile.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Robert Work, Buz Parkhill.
