CROSBYTON (Special) — Services for Mrs. Mae Ruth Chappell, 70, Crosby County resident since 1924, will be at ____m. today at Crosbyton Church of Christ.

_____ Bryant will officiate, assisted by Carrol Dan Robertson. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of King Funeral Home.

Mrs. Chappell died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.

Survivors include the husband, Elwin Chappell; three sons, D. Chappell, Fort Worth; Hoyt, Crosbyton; and Ozell, Floydada; three daughters, Mrs. J.V. Hunt, Fort Worth; Mrs. Frank Cox, Ralls, and Mrs. Floyd Hudgens, Tahoka; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Ward, Gardenia, Calif.; five brothers, W.H. Derryberry, Colony, Okla.; J.E. Derryberry, Carnegia, Okla.; Lester Derryberry, Oklahoma City; Homer Derryberry, Dibble, Okla., and E. L. Derryberry, Hamilton City, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Elwin Chappell, a Crosby County resident for over half a century, was claimed by death about 11 p.m. Monday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a short illness. He was 81.

Mr. Chappell had been a longtime resident of Crosbyton Care Center.

Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church here. The Rev. Johnnie Williams, pastor, and the Rev. Preston Beeks, pastor of the Pansy Baptist Church, officiated.

Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mr. Chappell was a retired farmer.

Born August 8, 1897, in Garretts Bluff, Tex., he was reared in Lamar County. He moved to Crosby County in 1927 from Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Chappell of Crosbyton; three sons, D. Chappell of Fort Worth, Hoyt Chappell of Crosbyton, and Ozell Chappell of Floydada; three daughters, Mrs. Loyce Hunt of Fort Worth, Mrs. Joyce Hudgens of Tahoka, and Mrs. Doris Cox of Crosbyton; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
