Crosbyton community was shocked Thursday afternoon when hearing of the death of Mary Nell Cargile, a civic and church leader. She was 42.Mrs. Cargile succumbed at 1:20 p.m. Thursday in Baylor Medical Center in Dallas after an illness spanning several years. She and her husband left here Tuesday for Mrs. Cargile to receive medical attention in Dallas.
The deceased was the wife of Joe Cargile, president of Citizens National Bank in Crosbyton.
Memorial rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, where she was an active member The Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, officiated.
Interment followed in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of King Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were: Dee Cash, Dick Snodgrass, Aries Graham, Dr. E.C. Fernandez, all of Crosbyton; R.C. Mitchell of Lockney; and Edgar R. Hays of Nocona.
Mrs. Cargile had been a Crosbyton resident since May 1967 when she, her husband, and their two sons moved here from Lockney.
The former Mary Nell Trevey was born Oct. 5, 1934 in Snyder. She and Joe Cargile were united in marriage Nov. 27, 1954 in Snyder.

CROSBYTON Joe Cargile, 78, of Crosbyton passed away December 30, 2012 at his residence. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday January 3, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Crosbyton with the Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating and the Rev. Lester Griffin and the Rev. Les Reed assisting. Burial will follow at the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Joe was born November 15, 1934 in Henderson Texas to H.W. and Mary Eva Isbell Cargile. He married Mary Nell Trevey, November 27, 1954 in Snyder Texas. She passed away November 11, 1976. He married Milla Raye Adams on March 15, 1980 in Lubbock Texas. Joe was a member of Wayland Baptist University Board of Directors, The Crosbyton Lions Club, a Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Crosbyton, and a Banker for 58 years. He was loved and respected by everyone he came in contact with, a true Christian man.
He is survived by his wife, Milla Raye of Crosbyton; three sons, Joe Mark Cargile and wife Scarlett of Ralls, Michael Jay Cargile and wife Jennice of Spur, Bob Adams and wife Cheryl of Crosbyton; a sister Jenny Hicks of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held Wednesday January 2, 2013 from 6 till 7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.
