Erma Jean Burgess was born on August 15, 1942 in Kosse, TX to Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Burgess. She was united with the church at an early age at Mt. Zion, Kosse, TX by the Rev. Humble. She lived there until 1965 when she moved to Lubbock, TX. After her illness, she moved to Crosbyton, TX remaining there until her death on Monday, October 24, 1977.Erma Jean left to mourn her four daughters: Ruby, Pam, Rosetta and Nicole; one son, Kelly Lynn, all of Kosse, TX; her father, L.D. Burgess of Kosse, TX; three sisters, Lillian Moore of Crosbyton, TX; Elsie Clark of Lockney, TX; Jimmy Lang of Petersburg; TX; four brothers, Ocie Burgess of Lubbock, TX; L.D. Burgess of Houston, TX; Eugene Burgess of Pomona, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, October 26, 1977 at two o´clock p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church in Crosbyton, TX with Rev. Joe Horn, officiating. Pallbearers were Jimmy Lang, Anthony Moore, Alvesta Moore, Ivan Moore, Eddie Kelly and John Clark. Assiting with the service were Frank Williams, Rev. Bennie Anderson and Mrs. L. Carr.

Obituary
A lengthy illness terminated in death about 8:30 a.m. Monday for Erma Jean Burgess, 35, of Crosbyton. She succumbed in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital.Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Galilee Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Horn, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Six nephews served as pallbearers.
She was born August 15, 1942 in Kosse, Tex. The deceased was a cook but had worked for Texas Instruments in Lubbock for the last three years.
Survivors include one son, Kelly Lynn Dubose, and four daughters, Ruby Jewel Dubose, Rosetta Dubose, Pamela Dubose and Nicole Dubose, all of the home; her father, L.D. Burgess of Marlin; four brothers, L.D. Burgess Jr. of Petersburg, Billy Burgess of Houston, Ocie Burgess of Lubbock, and Eugene Burgess of Pomona, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Moore of Crosbyton, Mrs. Elsie Clark of Lockney, and Mrs. Jimmie Lang of Petersburg.
