Joel Blackwood Rites Set Today in King Chapel

Funeral services for Joel J. Blackwood, 76, are scheduled in King Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. today, Thursday. Elder Dennis Taylor will officiate.

The longtime Crosby resident was found dead in his room at the Star Hotel Tuesday. His death was due to natural causes, ruled Justice of Peace Carl Ingram.

Blackwood was born May 5, 1885, in Young county. He had lived in Crosby county since 1924.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Hattie McCoy, Graham, and Mrs. Maude Benson, Inglewood, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Theo Blackwood, Crosbyton.

Burial will be in Crosbyton cemetery. King Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
