Memorial services for Catherine Elizabeth (Kate) Blackburn were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ted Brian, a retired Baptist minister, officiated.

Interment was made in Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Mrs. Blackburn, who resided at 418 South Durham, had been a Crosbyton resident since she and her late husband moved here in 1943 from Merkel. She was a housewife.

The 79 year old Crosbytonite was claimed by death at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. She had suffered a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 1, 1902 in Indian Territory, the former Catherine Elizabeth Tyler was married to John Mitchell Blackburn on Dec. 25, 1918, in Merkel. Mr. Blackburn preceded his wife in death on Jan. 30, 1977.

Mrs. Blackburn was a member of First Baptist Church.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Arron Justus of Crosbyton, Mrs. Bennie McMillian and Mrs. Ollie Hull, both of Lubbock, and W.M. Tyler of Plainview.

One daughter, Lonetta Blackburn, preceded her parents in death in 1944.
