Bert H. Black, a Crosby County resident all but six years since 1925, died at 7 a.m. Friday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday. Mr. Black was 80.Memorial services were at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Rine, pastor, officiating.
Burial was made in Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Born August 1, 1898 in Mills County, Tex., Bert Black was married to Leila Withers, July 12, 1925 in Post. The couple moved to Crosby County in 1925 and to Crosbyton in 1930. They had resided here since that time except for six years that they made their home in Stephenville and Amarillo.
Mr. Black was a retired farmer and a cattleman. He was a member of Crosbyton lodge #1020 A.F.& A.M., First Baptist Church in Crosbyton, and the Crosbyton Senior Citizens Club.
He had served many years as a member of the Crosbyton Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Leila, of Crosbyton; one brother, Bradley Black of Melrose, NM; and one sister, Mrs. Jewel Gregg of Muncie, Ind.

CROSBYTON (Special) - Services for Leila Black, 93, of Amarillo will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, and the Rev. Sammy Medina of Lubbock officiating.Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
She died Friday, June 20, 1997, in the Elizabeth Jan Blivins Home in Amarillo.She was born June 18, 1904, in Comanche. She married Bert H. Black on July 12, 1925, in Post. He died Oct. 13, 1978. She was a member of Crosbyton First Baptist Church. She moved to Crosbyton in 1925. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlie Brock and Trevelyn Crawford. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Velma Medina of Lubbock; a brother, Weldon Withers of Frankston; and two grandsons.
