Obituary

Services for Lucille Lucas Beyer, 93, of Spur were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2001 in the First Baptist Church of Spur with the Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

Mrs. Beyer died Tuesday, September 18 in a Houston hospital after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 10, 1907, in Lingo, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University and her Master's Degree from the Colorado State Teachers College. She married Joseph A. Beyer on Dec. 22, 1950. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1996. She was a school teacher for many years, most recently serving as a principal and teacher in Odessa and as a fifth-grade teacher in Crane. She retired in 1970 and moved to Spur. She was a member of First Baptist Church and an avid supporter of the Dickens County Livestock Show. She also assisted with adult education programs in the Spur area for several years.

She is survived by nine nephews: E.L. Caraway of Fort Worth; Bill Caraway of Houston; Noble Hunsucker, Jr., of Crosbyton; Bobby Hurst of Friona; Kerry Hurst of Childress; Terry Hurst of Lorenzo; Joc Hurst of Idalou; Michael Hurst of Austin and Andy Hurst of Rustin, LA.

Memorials may be made to the church of your choice.
