This is information that I obtained from Roddie Lee Starkey, Roddie B. Backus Stone´s daughter in Ralls, Texas.
Submitted by: Sandra GilliamNOTES From Sandra Gilliam: I believe his middle name was Baccus. I cannot prove it at this time, but from the papers Delcinia wrote and signed for his confederate pension his name was John B. Stone. I found his father living in New York and his name was also John B. Stone. John did have 2 stepbrothers, William and Henry. His mother's name was Hewitt or Huitt. I was told by Roddie, Uncle Roddie's daughter, that William and Henry moved westward. In Delcinia's papers, she said John Stone had moved to Texas after he was discharged from the Army. He was working for a Pink Scott who married Delcinia's sister Molly (Mary I suppose). When they went to Alabama to visit that is when Delcinia met John. John was born in Buffalo, New York. He was 22 when he inlisted in the service in MO., he was discaharged at Little Rock, Ark. He was 6ft tall, fair complexion, blue eyes and light hair. He and Delcinia were married in Alabama Feb. 22, 1877. They lived in Arkansas Co, Ark., for 2 years and then moved to Cottle Co, Texas for 15 years. Next they lived in Crosby Co, Tx for 11 years and then in Chavis Co, NM they lived till the fall of 1918. They were living in Lubbock, Tx when John died October 6, 1921.
