Louis PowellU.S.Flag   Family Graveside Services for Louis V. Powell, 81, of Ralls will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 in the Cone Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ralls First Baptist Church with Dwayne Moses and Rev. Larry Carson officiating. Services are under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Powell passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at his Ralls home. He was born June 25, 1926 in Cone, Texas to Arthur C. and Ada (Wright) Powell.

After graduating high school he trained as an aviation electrician. Then at age 17 he joined the US Marine Corps where he was a certified aviation electrician and served in Guam, Tinian and Iwo Jima.

Louis was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church. He was a construction foreman for Southwestern Public Service for 40 years. Louis had great passion for kids, working tirelessly to assist the Ralls Little League Association in their ball park and coaching a team. Louis also actively worked with the Boy Scouts on projects including the cemeteries at Ralls, Lorenzo, Estacado, Cone and Emma. In 1977 he was honored by the Ralls Chamber of Commerce as �Citizen Through The Years�. He lived in the Ralls area all of his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Curtis Powell.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Ada Lee and Elvin Evatt of Ralls and a brother and his wife, Jerrold and Ima Jean Powell of Ralls; by nieces and nephews, Brenda Evatt, Beccy Hambright, Tracy Evatt, Jeanie Alford and Jimmy Powell; and by great nieces and nephews, Cassidy Ness, Coleman Williams, Matt Evatt, Dan Evatt, JennyBeth Alford, Jarrod Alford and Jaclyn Alford.

The family suggests memorials to the Ralls Cemetery Chapel Fund, 808 Ave. I Ralls, Texas 79357, or Cone Cemetery.
