Jerrold PowellU.S.Flag   Jerrold Powell 89 of Ralls passed away Friday March 21, 2014. Jerrold was born October 25, 1924 in Cone Texas to Arthur Cornelius and Ada Wright Powell. He met the love of his life Ima Jean Noland they were married August 30, 1960 in Floydada Texas. Jerrold was a veteran of WWII, serving with the Army Air Corp as a Staff Sargent. He was awarded three Bronze Stars and served the China � Burma � India theatre with the Flying Tigers. He also was in the North Africa theatre. Jerrold was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ralls serving as a deacon for 43 of those years he also taught Sunday School for many years. He was a member of the Ralls Fire Department receiving outstanding fire men of the year award in 1980. He worked as a serviceman for South Western Public Service for 38 years. After his retirement Jerrold was a part of the Texas Baptist Men Organization building Churches. Jerrold and his brother Louis have the little league parks named after them for their many hours of dedication to the parks. They are named Powell Parks.

Jerrold is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Louis Powell.

Jerrold is survived by his wife Ima Jean, a daughter Jeanie Alford and her husband Scott of Littlefield, a son Jimmy Powell and his wife Pam of La Grange. A sister Ada Lee Evatt and husband Elvin of Ralls. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; Jenny Beth Alford, Jaclyn Alford, Jarrod Alford, Melissa Flanagan, Kaylee Bouley, and Tara Lowe.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday March 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Ralls with the Rev. T.J. Messer officiating. Burial will follow in the Cone Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. till 4:00 p. m. at Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
