Services for Hortense Jackson, 79, of Cone were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 26, 1997, in New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Floyadada with George Johnson, elder of Lubbock Primitive Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial followed in the Cone Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mrs. Jackson died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, in Floydada Rehabilitation and Care Center in Floydada following an illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1918, in Erath County and married Joe M. Jackson on Dec. 19, 1934, East of Cone. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1994. She was a member of New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada.
She worked in retail sales for many years. She and her husband had owned Jackson Grocery in Cone. She moved to Cone in 1938.
Survivors include a son, Carl of Amarillo; a sister, Rachel Nance of Floydada; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, Holley Jackson, Alesha Jackson, Jordon Blount, and Hayden Blount.
