Obituary

Funeral services for Curtis O. Gilbreath, 84, of Cone Community were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crosbyton Church of Christ with Loyd Hall, minister, the Rev. Floyd Haddock, pastor of Ralls First Baptist Church and Elder Joe Jackson of Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada, all officiating.

Burial was in Cone Cemetery at Cone under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home here.

Gilbreath died about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in Health Sciences Center Hospital in Lubbock after a brief illness.

The retired farmer had served as chairman of the Cone school board and was a member of Crosbyton Church of Christ. He was born in Bosque County and married Jewel Alexander in Eulogey May 1, 1921. The World War I veteran moved from Bosque County in 1924 to the Ralls area and then moved to Cone in 1932.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel; two sons, Owen of Lubbock and Bill of Ralls; a daughter, Mrs. George Pierot of Ralls; a sister, Mrs. W. M. Leonard of Fort Worth; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Edmund Crump, Bart Lynch, Earl Smith, Bob Noble, James Boydston, George Harris and Alfred Clark.

Picture of Jewel Gilbreath RALLS (Special) — Services for Jewel "Mamma Jewel" Gilbreath, 92, of Cone will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Emma Church of Christ with Vance Davis, minister, and the Rev. Floyd Haddock, pastor of Manvel First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial in Cone Cemetery will be directed by Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gilbreath died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 1993, in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1900, in Bosque County. She married C.O. Gilbreath on May 1, 1921, in Eulogy. The couple moved to Crosby County in 1924 and to the Cone Community in 1931. He died on April 26 1978. She was a member of the Emma Church of Christ and of the Prairie Quilting Club in Ralls. In 1986, she was named Citizen through the Years by the Ralls Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include two sons, Owen Gilbreath of Lubbock and Bill Gilbreath of Ralls; a daughter, Thelma Pierot of Ralls; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Wilson, D. J. Moses, Billy Bob Wright, James Boydstun, Kenny Adams and Dwight Roye.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
