U.S.Flag   Henry Esmond and his wife Josephine Clementine were moving to Las Cruses New Mexico from Oklahoma with their horses and wagon.

Along the way, Esmond began feeling ill. They decided to stop at the home of Peachie Ann (Thetford) Parrish, Josephine’s sister, who lived near Cone, TX. The Esmond’s stayed at the Parrish home for about three weeks and Henry’s conditioned worsened. A doctor from Floydada visited Esmond several times at the Parrish home. Despite treatments, Henry Esmond passed away.

After a period of time Esmond’s widow Josephine moved on to their intended destination in New Mexico.

Esmond was a Veteran of WW1 and a member of Odd Fellow Lodge.
