Charlie HendrixU.S.Flag   Charlie Hendrix, 62, of Lubbock passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Covenant. He was born March 27, 1946 to Finice Hendrix and Azelene Mann Hendrix. He attended and graduated from Dunbar High School. He worked at Goulds Pumps until his health failed. He joined the U. S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He was appointed Private First Class on October 1, 1966 and Corporal on August 1, 1969. He received two medals of Good Conduct, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, and Vietnam Campaign Medal while in the Marines. He also received education and training in Radio Relay Operation Course in 1966, Radio Set in 1967, Non-Commissioned Officer's Leadership School in 1968, and on June 27, 1972, Corporal Charlie F. Hendrix received his certificated of Honorable Discharge from the Armed Forces.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Azelene Hendrix; one sister, Girdie Mae Greene; three nieces, two nephews, ten great-nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew; one uncle, Forrest R. Mann, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Friendship Holy Baptist Church #1. Burial will follow at the Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.

Visitations will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
