Roxie was born May 12, 1898 in Whitney, TX to Sam and Prela Prowlie Moss. She lived in Ft. Worth, TX and California before moving to Crosbyton in 1977. Roxie married Ruffa Williams. One son, Z.D. Williams was born. He married Mollie L. Fullbright. Four children were born to that union. Roxie later married L.D. Bratcher who preceded her in death in 1973.

Sister Bratcher was a Christian lady. Her occupation other than homemaker and mother was taking care of the sick and cleaning homes for people. Her church preference was Baptist. She loved going to church and also doing church work. Her hobbies were sewing, yard work, gardening and just helping others. She was once honored as Resident of the Month at the Crosbyton Nursing Home.

Silently on the morning of March 19, 1997, the angel of death came into her room at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital and carried Sister Roxie Bratcher home.

Her son, Z.D. Williams, preceded her in death in 1961. Her grandson, Z.D. Williams, Jr. passed away May 4, 1996.

She left to mourn her passing three grandchildren, Mary Frances Harris and Dorothy Terrell of Crosbyton, TX; L.C. Williams of Lubbock, TX; one sister, Annie Mae Cole of Crosbyton, TX; 37 great grandchildren, 39 great great grandchildren, 53 great great great grandchildren and 4 great great great great grandchildren,; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held March 21, 1997 at two o´clock p.m. in Greater Mt. Zion Church of Crosbyton with Rev. H.L. Phillips, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were great grandsons: Sammie Lee Williams, Ronald Johnson, Bobbie Lee Williams, Marvin D. Wiley, Charles Brewton, Billy Joe Johnson, Chuck Carr and Byron Johnson. Assisting with the service were Rev. Sanders, Rev. R.D. Adams, Sister Gayle Turner and Rev. Ruby Price. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Crosbyton, TX.

CROSBYTON (Special) — Services for Roxie Bratcher, 98, of Crosbyton will be at 2 p.m. today in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. H.L. Phillips, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

She died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, in St. Mary Hospital in Lubbock.

She was born May 12, 1898, in Whitney. She married L.D. Bratcher, and he died in 1973. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She moved to Crosbyton in 1974.

She was a homemaker. A son, Z.D. Williams Sr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister, Annie Mae Cole of Crosbyton; three grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 39 great great grandchildren; 53 great great great grandchildren; and four great great great great grandchildren.
