Funeral For E. E. Powell
Paint Rock Man, 76, Had Lived in Texas since Childhood
Paint Rock, Oct. 26, Elim E. Powell, 76 years old and a
resident of Texas since early boyhood, dropped dead from his chair at 9:35
yesterday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. F. Houston and Mr.
Houston. The funeral was held in Paint Rock at 3:30 this afternoon.
Mr. Powell was talking with the family last night when he
suddenly slumped in his chair and fell to the floor. He was carried to a nearby
bedroom and was dead in a few minutes. he had been in his usual good health.
Mr. Powell was born in Smith county, Mississippi, and
came to Texas with his parents when he was a small boy. He is survived only by
his daughter. his wife and three children have died prior to his death. The
funeral was held from the home of Mrs. Houston. The Rev. L. D. Hardt having
charge of the service. Interment was in the Paint Rock cemetery.

POWELL FUNERAL AT PAINT ROCK
Pioneer Texan Drops Dead At Home Of Daughter Tuesday Night
Paint Rock, Oct. 26. Funeral services were conducted here this afternoon for
Elim E. Powell, 76, who dropped dead here at 9:35 o'clock last night at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. W. f. Houston. Mrs. Houston is his daughter.
Mr. Powell died a few minutes after being carried to a bed
from the chair where he fell while talking with members of the family. he was
born in Smith county, Mississippi and came to Texas when a small boy with his
parents. The daughter is the only immediate survivor.
The Rev. L. D. Hardt officiated at the services this
afternoon which were from the home of Mrs. Houston. Burial was in the Paint Rock
Cemetery.
